Our team
The core team at SOMA is made up of two Psychiatry doctors with specialized training and clinical experience in the use of psychedelics in psychiatric disorders. This team works together with other mental health professionals from Casa de Saúde de Santa Catarina, so that all the necessary care during treatment.
Pedro Sousa Martins
Psychiatrist at the São João University Hospital Center (CHUSJ). Trained Existential Psychotherapist by the Portuguese Society of Existential Psychotherapy. Postgraduate in Systemic and Family Therapy. Responsible by the subspecialty consultation of Alcoholology at CHUSJ. Lecturer of the curricular unit of Psychiatry and Health Mental at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. Responsible for implementing the Therapy program Assisted by Ketamina at CHUSJ. Clinical Internship in Ketamine Assisted Therapy at OVID Praxis in Berlin Germany (2021). Co-founder of SPACE - Portuguese Society for the Clinical Application of Entheogens.
Pedro Mota
Psychiatrist at Casa de Saúde de Santa Catarina. Master in Social and Cultural Psychiatry by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra. PhD candidate in Medicine at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho. Researcher at ICVS - Institute for Research in Life and Health Sciences. Postgraduate in Psychotraumatology with certified by the European Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. Training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Experience clinic and certified training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, by the Polaris Insight Center (USA). President and Co-founder of SPACE - Portuguese Society for the Clinical Application of Entheogens. Coordinator and author of the manual scientific study “Psychedelics in Mental Health” (2023).
